May 2008
Parent Letter

Dear Parents:
It’s time for one of the last parent letters of the year.  Can you believe there are only 3 weeks of class left?  As we prepare for the end of the school year, there are still plenty of items to update you about.

  • The end of the year parties will be held on the last days of school:  May 21st and May 22nd.  Families and friends are invited to join us from 11-noon. The children will still have class at 9 am those days so that the teachers can spend time with them before families arrive.  Sign-up sheets for these parties are in the entry-way.
  • We continue to play outside whenever the weather allows.  We’ve noticed lots of children wearing Crocs, flip-flops, and sandals to school.  Please send tennis shoes for outdoor play.  Proper shoes allow for the children to run and climb without the hazards that other shoes can bring.
  • Thank-you to all of the parents who came to a parent/teacher conference.  We love to spend time talking with parents.  For those of you who may have missed the conferences, alternative times can be set up.  See Cindy if you’d like to schedule one.
  • “Report cards” will be sent home on the last day of class so that you can have a record of your child’s year in preschool.
  • For the month of May, we will be learning the story of Noah’s Ark.  Our rainbow wall will be completed and an ark will be a part of the classroom. On May 12th and 13th, dress your child as an animal for class.  We’ll be “loading the ark” and the kids will be the animals.  Please don’t feel the need to spend lots of time or money on a costume.  If you need ideas or help finding something for the day, talk with either Cindy or Jean.
  • On May 14th and 15th we will have “umbrella day” and be talking about the 40 days of rain that Noah and his family endured while on the ark.  Have your child bring an umbrella to class that day.  If it’s raining outside, we’ll even get to play in the rain with our umbrellas.
  • Throughout the year, we have been taking many pictures of the children.  These pictures, which so far number over 500, will be put on a DVD.  These DVD’s will be available for $10/each.  The DVD’s will be mailed home after the school year ends so that the last day celebrations can be included.  Purchasing information will be in your child’s cubby soon.

Thanks so much for sharing your child with us.  We are privileged and honored to have been part of their lives this year.

Mrs. Meckl (“Cindy”)
